Big Bumpin’ Review

Remember when Microsoft entered into a promotional deal with Burger King? Burger King has three games featuring their characters exclusive to Xbox and Xbox 360. While the majority of people overlooked these games, nobody talked about how good or bad they turned out to be. Pocketbike Racer and Sneakng were two of the games but the third game in that deal was called Big Bumpin’. Was Big Bumpin’ a good game that many people overlooked?

Big Bumpin’ is a collection of mini-games where you and your opponents ride around in bumper carts trying to complete different objectives. These objectives could be winning rounds of Hot Potato, hitting a puck into your opponent’s goal, or trying to knock your opponents off a platform.

Some of the mini-games are more difficult than others. The Hot Potato game is difficult although the first area is confined when three players are trying to avoid the fourth. The hockey game that can be played two on two is also difficult especially if it is your first time playing the game.

I have no problem with the controls. You just push the direction on the D-Pad in the direction you want to go in and it works as long as you don’t get hung up on a wall or obstacle. None of the other buttons are used in this game except for when selecting a mini-game or tournament.

There is no story in this game. There are tournaments but while you see five on the tournament screen, you can only pick one at the beginning and you have to win a tournament in first place to unlock access to more tournaments.

The graphics are not that bad. There are about ten games and five different arenas to play in based on your chosen game. Also, all the characters look different but it is easy to lose track of your kart in a couple of games especially when the screen is zoomed out so all four karts appear on one screen.

I enjoyed the music that was played during the games. One theme sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember the song’s name. But I enjoyed the music that was in the game.

There is replayability because you can choose to play any mini-game you want and these are party games so you can play with other people but if you have nobody to play with, the bots put up a challenge, especially for newcomers to the game.

So the gameplay is fun for a little while but it isn’t easy. I have no problems with the controls because most of the controller isn’t used in the entire game. There is no story in the game. I like the graphics and the sound and the game has replayability because some of the mini-games are fun. So I give Big Bumpin’ on the XBox 6 out of 10. Fuzion Frenzy was already out for the Xbox when this game was out and Fuzion Frenzy 2 would come out for the Xbox 360 about a year after this game came out. However all three Burger King games cost four dollars each when they were released so it was a cheap alternative and at that price, it wasn’t unreasonable.
