The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – The Final Season Review

Telltale Games made a game people loved when people got to play their game, Jurassic Park. From there, Telltale Games would take different franchises and deliver great games that had great storytelling and people still enjoy those games today. Telltale Games did close in 2018 before coming back shortly after the closing and one game that was in danger during the end of the original life span of Telltale Games was the final season of The Walking Dead. Did this game play like it was the final product from a dying company or was this a satisfying ending to the story of Clementine’s adventure?

If you played any of the previous Walking Dead games from Telltale Games then you are familiar with the gameplay that was in the final season of The Walking Dead. You got to choose conversation choices, make decisions that could put people on your side or against you and most of the action scenes were like quick time events. The gameplay was fun in previous Telltale Games and it was fun in this game.

The gameplay is as easy as other games made by Telltale Games. It’s easy to figure out what to do or complete tasks in the game. Also, there are no problems with the controls. If you played one game by Telltale Games since The Wolf Among Us came out then you would be familiar with the controls in this game and I have no problem with the controls in this game.

This is the final The Walking Dead game in Clementine’s story. Since the decisions you picked might differ from mine, you might end up with a different story so I can only tell you the story I experienced. The game starts with Clementine driving trying to find shelter with AJ. Eventually, they come across a boarding school where a bunch of other students have found shelter. Clementine and AJ are forced to leave the school and that’s when they are captured by Abel and Lilly. Lilly is the same character who tried to leave everyone stranded when she stole the camper in the first game.

The graphics look the same as they did in the first Walking Dead game. Reoccurring characters like Clementine and AJ look older since the seasons took place over a few years. But the graphics looked average for Xbox One standards.

The same goes for the sound. Clementine and Lilly sounded like you would expect them to. Sometimes the game just has environmental noise with no music playing but the music wasn’t missed when it didn’t play. When there was music, it didn’t sound out of place and it was enjoyable to hear so I have no problems with any of the sound in the game.

If you get a good ending, there is no reason to replay this game. The time to complete this game was a little shorter because of the problems Telltale Games was facing. If Skybound Games hadn’t stepped in, this game would not have been completed. Even though this game was completed, there were only four episodes instead of five like other Telltale Games.

The gameplay is a lot of fun and it’s easy to play this game whether or not you played one of Telltale’s previous games. I have no problems with the controls. While this game didn’t have the normal five episodes like other Telltale Games, the story didn’t feel rushed and it provided an end to Clementine’s story arc. I have no problems with the graphics or sound. So I give The Walking Dead: The Final Season on Xbox One 9 out of 10. If you have played the previous Walking Dead games and enjoyed them, you should finish Clementine’s story by playing this game.
