Ever since Chain Shot came out in 1985, there have been a lot of puzzle games released on many different consoles. The most famous puzzle video game which is Tetris had similarities to Chain Shot. The subject of this review is about a different game called Zuma’s Revenge. Zuma’s Revenge is the sequel to the puzzle game Zuma.

just like the predecessor Zuma, in Zuma’s Revenge, you have to shoot balls at other balls of the same color. After a ball you shot connects with balls of the same color, those balls will disappear if three or more of the same colored balls are touching.

Zuma’s Revenge offers advantages that were not found in Zuma. There are power-ups where you could shoot lasers for a short time that will destroy any ball you shoot. There are also projectiles you can shoot that will get rid of any balls in it’s path. You also earn coins where you can purchase upgrades like the speed you shoot at.

After every ten levels, you have a boss fight where you have to shoot balls at a boss once you get rid of the balls in the way of the boss. The boss can also shoot projectiles towards you which you have to dodge or you will be unable to do anything for a few seconds.

This game is a lot more forgiving then the original. In the original, you play the adventure mode and after three times where balls reach the spot they’re not supposed to, you have to start over from the beginning of the world. While I have not finished Zuma’s Revenge, I never encountered a level that I had to attempt more then twice.

There are no problems with the controls. I would not change anything about the controls. So the controls are fine. The graphics are better then the original because the backgrounds change up so you’re not looking at the same background for too long. The music sounds tribal and the sound effects are fine.

Your character which is a frog disturbs a god. So after every ten levels, you take on a tiki god and once you defeat one, you go to the next island. That’s about all there is for a story.

Once you beat the game, there is some replayability because there are modes where you can take on all the levels in a specific world with one life or take on all the bosses one after the other and you try to defeat the bosses as fast as you can.

The game is fun and the game is easier. Zuma’s Revenge is easier then the original. I have no problem with the controls. The story is barely there but puzzle games don’t need a story. The graphics are fine because the backgrounds change up and the colors look vibrant. I have no problem with the sound effects. There is also replayability because of the different modes you unlock during the game. So I give Zuma’s Revenge on the XBox 360 a 9 out of 10. While I enjoy the easier difficulty, I think this game is a little too easy especially when you compare it to Zuma.
