Did you ever wish you could play Sega Genesis classics on your Xbox 360? There are a bunch of Sega Vintage Classics that come with three games that you can play on your Xbox 360 or Xbox One. The Streets Of Rage trilogy was in its collection that was offered for people who had Games With Gold. What does this Sega Vintage Collection offer besides the three games in the title?

If you have never played a Streets Of Rage game, it is a side-scrolling beat ’em up like Double Dragon or Final Fight where one or two players fight their way through enemies and meet a boss at the end. If you are outnumbered by enemies then you can call in backup which will shoot a rocket that will wipe out all your enemies on screen.

So what is different in this collection? If you don’t have somebody to team with, you can team up with someone over Xbox Live. There are also trials where you play a game on a specific difficulty or play a specific level and you have to either complete the level or reach the target score in a specific amount of time. However, there are no continues so once you lose all your lives, the trial is over. The specific levels where you have to complete a part of the level within a time limit will add ten seconds to your elapsed time every time you die.

The difficulty remains unchanged. If you found Streets Of Rage difficult, you will find it difficult here. If you found the game easy, then you will find it easy here also. The controls are a little confusing because X is how you call in for backup to clear the screen, A is how you fight and B is how you jump. Other than accidentally hitting X when you didn’t mean to, the controls are fine and have no problems.

The story of the game is about a crime syndicate running the streets and a few people who used to be cops have become vigilantes to take out the crime syndicate. The graphics look the same although there are specific borders around the gameplay so the game plays in its original ratio.

The music is great to listen to and the sound effects sound accurate. I didn’t notice anything that was changed and there is nothing I would change about the sound.

There is replayability because even after you beat all three games, you can play the trials or team up with someone on Xbox Live. There are also leaderboards so you can play your trials to get a better time or score. So there is gameplay even after you finish the story mode of all three games.

The gameplay is fun like Streets Of Rage normally is and the game is just as difficult as you found it on the Sega Genesis. The controls work fine. The story is the same as the games on Sega Genesis. There is nothing wrong with the graphics or sound and there is replayability. So I give Sega Vintage Collection: Streets Of Rage for Xbox 360 10 out of 10. I don’t know anything that could have made this game better. If you are a fan of Streets Of Rage and you have an Xbox 360 or Xbox One, then there is no reason not to pick up this game.
