LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures Review

Lego: Indiana Jones The Original Adventures is Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade being played out in the Lego World.

The gameplay in this game is very fun. There are a lot of puzzles to solve, a lot of obstacles to get around, and involves a lot of strategies. The controls in the game for the most part work fine. Just sometimes, if you have a gun or tool, instead of using it like I want a person to do, the person puts it away. Also, I’m close to a quarter way through the game but one stage just has me completely stumped almost from the beginning. That’s another problem of mine with the game. Why were levels made so hard? I understand some of it may be chalked up to not watching the Indiana Jones movies but still, there should be an easier way to figure out how to advance in some of the levels.

Although unfamiliar with the Indiana Jones movies, The game follows the storylines of the three movies mentioned above as far as I can tell. You get around obstacles, solve puzzles, collect treasure, and get enemies out of the way. Even when following the story mode, you get a cutscene before every level that has no dialogue. That’s obviously because the game is made up of mostly lego pieces but the gripe I have about it is you must watch the one-minute cutscene because there is no way to skip it even if you’re tired of watching that cutscene.

The graphics are very well regardless of what setting you’re in. It could be the jungle, the temple, or the desert and everything looks as realistic as possible. Keep in mind this is a lego world but there was an excellent job done on things in the background that had no other purpose than being scenery. The sound was OK. There is no dialogue in the game since this is a game made out of Lego pieces and when you shoot a gun that looked like an assault rifle, you hear a “pop” when it is shot off. However, that is not a big deal.

The replayability in this game is very big. Even if you complete all three movies in the game, you and a friend can play those levels over again as different characters to complete tasks you weren’t able to do before. Also with all the puzzles and obstacles, this game should keep someone occupied for quite some time.

I give this game a 9 out of 10. The only thing that kept me from giving this game a 10 out of 10 is making some of the levels more challenging than they needed to be.
