By 2009, TellTale Games had made a few games where they took popular franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones and released games of these franchises that were set in the LEGO world. In 2008, a third franchise would have a game in the LEGO world called LEGO Batman. Four years later, the Batman franchise would get a second game in the LEGO world called LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Did this second adventure in the Batman world have the same magic the first game did or should they have left the Batman franchise alone after the first game?

Some of the gameplay has remained the same. You still collect studs, fight off bad guys, have boss fights, and construct things including platforms that allow you to switch into suits that give Batman and Robin special abilities. You can also drive around in vehicles like the Batmobile and the Batwing.

One new thing not seen in the original LEGO Batman is the open world in which you can drive around. You drive from one level you completed to the Batcave and then you drive from the Batcave to Arkham Asylum. So if you wished LEGO games had more of an open world then you will like the second LEGO Batman game.

Another thing that has changed is the size of the individual levels. These individual levels are much bigger than the ones in the original LEGO Batman but there are checkpoints where you can save your game so you don’t have to worry about losing progress if you don’t have enough time to complete a level.

If I did have one complaint about the levels, I would say they are more difficult to progress through just because where you have to go is not always clear. When I got to Arkham Asylum and Catwoman kept riding by Batman and Robin on her bike, I had no idea how I was to progress before watching a walkthrough. After getting past that part, I was able to finish the entire level.

The controls seem to be the same as in other LEGO games. Nothing seems to have changed although I played the first LEGO Batman game on PlayStation 2. The controls have not been changed and there is nothing I would have changed about the controls.

The story of the game starts with Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne showing up to an award ceremony for Man Of The Year. Just as Bruce Wayne is about to accept his victory, the normal suspects crash the award ceremony and Bruce Wayne has to go to work and round up Batman’s enemies. This game is called LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes because this game isn’t just about Batman. It doesn’t take long before you see Superman show up so if you wanted to see a game where Batman.

When it comes to the graphics, there are no complaints. Everyone that appeared in the previous LEGO Batman game looks the same and the new characters look like you would expect them to in the LEGO World. When you go around Gotham, Gotham looks like you would it too so I have no complaints with the graphics.

The sound is great. I love the music in the game and this time, characters don’t have to act out what they are saying because any characters that have lines do speak and none of the voices seem out of place. When it comes to music, sound effects, or voices, I have no complaints.

There is replayability in the game because there are still secrets in levels and only some characters can access those secrets. So once you complete a level, you can go back and play with different characters to find out what secrets you couldn’t discover when you played that level in the story mode.

The game is a lot of fun but you might have to look up a walkthrough more than you did when you played the first LEGO Batman. The controls feel like they haven’t been altered and they didn’t need to be because they were already great. The story may seem cliche but it feels fresh because of other characters like Lex Luthor and Superman joining the story. Everything and everyone that appeared in the first game looks the same and Gotham looks great when you start driving around. I also have no problem with the music, sound effects, or voices. There is also replayability in the game so I give LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes on the XBox 360 8 out of 10. While some levels will be difficult to find out where to go, it’s still a fun game once you figure it out. If you enjoyed the first LEGO Batman game then you will enjoy this game.
