Do you remember the commercials for Rayman 2? Remember, it’s Rayman, not a man named Ray. Rayman had plenty of games since the late 90s. However, this game appeared on a console that Nintendo would like to forget named the Wii-U. This game wasn’t exclusive to the Wii-U But the game I am looking at came out in 2013 named Rayman: Legends. Should this game have been forgotten like Nintendo would like to forget the Wii-U?

The beginning levels start where Rayman needs to run, jump, and punch and you could run through the early levels. There will be levels where you have to do more like learn a wall jump and not get crushed by a screen scroll. The idea is not just to complete these levels but to rescue blue creatures called Teensies. The more teensies you rescue during the levels, the more levels and worlds you will unlock. Rayman also has yellow friends that you rescue throughout the levels.

The game starts easily but it will not take long before the challenge in the levels increases. This does not mean the later levels are not fun. The levels are fun enough to keep trying even if they appear difficult at first. The same goes for the bosses. While a boss may seem tough, you realize how to defeat it once you recognize their pattern.

The controls work great with the GamePad. I didn’t recognize any problems. There are some levels where Rayman tags out to an ally and the computer will control that character but your job is to activate switches, move platforms, and take care of certain enemies on the Gamepad. Levels further into the game, there will be sand where you will have to make a path so the character controlled by the computer can progress through the level.

The story is the weakest part of the game. There is no story explained so if you haven’t played other Rayman games, you wouldn’t know there is a story. Since the game doesn’t give a story, there is no story to explain.

The graphics for the game are great. The worlds and levels are varied and I don’t think the graphics could have been done any better. The music played during the levels is upbeat and I like the sound effects I also like the voices of the teensies so the sound in this game is great.

When it comes to this game, there is replayability because you can play the levels cooperatively but only off the same console. Also if you don’t rescue enough teensies, you will have to re-do levels to rescue the teensies that were previously left behind.

The gameplay is fun and the levels become challenging but start simple enough. I had no problems controlling this game on the Wii-U gamepad. There is no story explained in the game. I love the graphics and sound in this game. There is replayability in this game. So I give Rayman Legends on the Wii-U 9 out of 10. There were great games on the Wii-U and Rayman Legends is one of them.
