If you pay attention to video games, you have seen the “Just Dance” series. With Just Dance being such a huge series, did we need more games that were similar? One game that is similar to the Just Dance games is Alvin and the Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked. I have never played a Just Dance game.

When you first start the game, you are assessed to find out which chipmunk or chipette you resemble the most. When you play the actual songs, there are a couple of icons not seen in other dance games. When you get Munk Power, it means you have been doing the dance well and you get bonus points. When a solo icon comes up, you have to shake the Wiimote vertically as fast as you can. When you play multiplayer, only one player does the dances until a double arrow icon happens, and then the inactive player becomes the active player.

Once you get some points which will earn you stars, you can customize the chipmunks and change their attire which they will wear when you return to the dances. Between this story mode, or choosing a song to play by yourself or with a friend, the game is a lot of fun.

When it comes to the difficulty of the songs, they start easy enough where anybody can play them but as you go through the list, the songs will become more difficult. So the game is really easy in the beginning but it doesn’t stay that way the whole game.

The controls work because you just have to move the Wiimote the way the icons tell you to. Alvin & the Chipmunks also dance on their screen so you can follow their movements if you choose. The only problem with the controls is this game will tire your arm out very quickly. My arm started hurting after just two songs.

I’m not sure how well the game follows the movie’s story. When you start the story mode, you can select from about four or five songs and you have to complete some of those songs before you can move on to later songs. Every time you access another set of songs, you get a cutscene.

The graphics are great for the Wii. I’m not sure the graphics could be done any better. The backgrounds do change up as you go through the story and you can customize how the chipmunks look once you earn different clothing.

Some people didn’t like the sound of the game because the chipmunks sang the songs that you danced to. Personally, that did not bother me. I also enjoyed hearing a couple of songs like “Video Killed The Radio Star” and “Whip It” to name a couple.

There are a lot of things to do in this game, you can play through the story and unlock clothing to customize the chipmunks and Chipettes. You can also play any song you want by yourself or with a friend even once you complete the game. So this game does have any replayability.

The game is a lot of fun and it starts easy but the game does get harder as it goes on. The controls work although they do tire out your arm in a short amount of time. The story may or may not follow the story of the actual movie. I had no problem with the graphics or sound and there is replayability once you complete the story mode. So give Alvin and The Chipmunks for the Nintendo Wii 8 out of 10. That’s because even if you want to play this game for a long time, you won’t be able to before your arm starts bothering you. However, if you like the Just Dance games or Alvin and The Chipmunks then you should check out this game.
