Saber Interactive Has Not Canceled Any Games Including Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake

March 17, 2025

While updates have been non-existent, Sabre Interactive says all previously announced games are still in development like the remake of Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic. This confirmation came from Tim Willis when he announced Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 3.

Tim Willis said that Sabre Interactive is a big developer so they have many different projects being worked on at the same time. A direct quote is “Everything that we have discussed is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something to share.”

The reason for concern is that gamers have been waiting for the remake of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic since it was announced in 2021. However, with development stopping and re-starting and the game being passed around to different development companies, this game still has not been released since it was announced four years ago.

Matthew Karch also confirmed that Saber Interactive took the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic when they split from Embracer and they are still developing the game. Matthew has provided proof that the game is alive by saying the game has been discussed in the press many times and they want to deliver a product that customers are expecting.

While there was a full year between Matthew Karch’s and Tim Willis’ statements, nothing else has been shown about this remake to prove it’s still being developed. Besides Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake, Sabre Interactive is expected to release John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival later this year. More games that Sabre Interactive is working on are the new Turok game, the new Avatar: The Last Airbender game, and Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 3.

Despite the reassurance from Saber Interactive, some fans have gotten tired of waring and no longer care. Despite the reassurance, this game could suffer the fate of the Prince Of Persia game that was never released. Even if this game is released, will it be released in a working condition or will it be broken on day one? It hasn’t been that long since all the projects from Monolith Productions were canceled when the studio was shut down.

Are you still looking forward to the remake of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic? Did you lose interest in how long development has taken? Do you still have faith that this game will see the light of day and not be canceled like Prince Of Persia or Wonder Woman? Comment down below how you feel about the future of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake.

New Information Regarding XBox Consoles

March 13, 2025

Information from a report shows that the next generation of Xbox is supposed to come out sometime in 2027. What will differentiate this from other consoles in the past is that you will have access to digital storefronts like Steam, Epic Games, and GOG. The next generation of Xbox will also be backwards compatible.

The next generation Xbox is not the only release Microsoft is planning. A handheld console codenamed “Keenan” will run Microsoft Windows and concentrate on the Microsoft Store and the PC version of Game Pass.

I don’t see the point in these plans. Microsoft throws every game they can on PlayStation, and “Keenan” sounds like other handheld consoles that are already out, like the Steam deck. I think Microsoft missed their window for entering the handheld market. Are you excited about Microsoft’s plans? Are you going to pick up “Keenan” when it comes out sometime in 2025? Let me know what you think about the information in this report.

An Early Look At Battlefield 6

March 8, 2025

EA’s most recent Battlefield game has finished testing the gameplay and some of that gameplay was released online. The gameplay was streamed on Twitch and the reason people had early access was to find bugs that could be fixed before launch. The Twitch user who streamed this gameplay footage isn’t the only place where this gameplay footage could be seen. There are videos of this gameplay posted by other people.

The time frame in the game suggest this isn’t a previous version of Battlefield. The gameplay did show shooting matches and buildings that could be destroyed. The feedback from people who saw the gameplay has been positive.

If you are a fan of single player campaigns then you should be pleased with Battlefield 2042. However, this game should be released within the next year. As we get closer to the official launch, we should see more of Battlefield 2042.

Unfortunately leaks online is something that can happen but it’s not a bad thing. If gameplay footage gets leaked, that’s free promotion. While the reception for Battlefield 2042 sounds positive, I hope it doesn’t get overloaded with microtransactions although I think some microtransactions are inevitable. Are you interested in picking up Battlefield 2042 when it comes out? Did the leaked gameplay sway your decision one way or another? Comment down below your thoughts on Battlefield 2042.

“We Have Not Modified It” — The Witcher 4 Director Shuts Down Ciri Face Change Rumors

March 3, 2025

The Witcher fandom has been buzzing lately, and not just about monster-slaying or Geralt’s brooding charm. Ever since CD Projekt Red dropped early peeks at The Witcher 4, eagle-eyed fans zeroed in on one thing: Ciri’s face. Had it changed? Was the ashen-haired legend getting a makeover? Well, hold your potions—the game’s director has finally weighed in, and the verdict is clear.

In a recent statement, the The Witcher 4 director put the speculation to rest: “We have not modified it.” That’s right—no facial reconstruction, no drastic redesigns. Ciri’s iconic look remains intact, straight from the wilds of The Witcher 3 to her next adventure.

In a recent statement, the The Witcher 4 director [insert name if known, or simply “director”] put the speculation to rest: “We have not modified it.” That’s right—no facial reconstruction, no drastic redesigns. Ciri’s iconic look remains intact, straight from the wilds of The Witcher 3 to her next adventure.

The response from the community has been a mixed bag. For many, this news is a sigh of relief. “Thank the Elder Gods,” one Reddit user wrote. “Ciri’s perfect as is—don’t mess with a good thing.” Others, though, aren’t fully convinced. Some point to the teasers’ stylized visuals, insisting something still looks “off.” Lighting tricks? Engine upgrades? The debate rages on, but the official word is what counts—and CD Projekt Red is standing firm.

This clarification isn’t just about calming the fanbase; it’s a signal of the studio’s commitment to continuity. Ciri’s look is more than just pixels—it’s a cornerstone of the Witcher legacy. Keeping her recognizable shows CD Projekt Red knows what’s at stake as they build on the monumental success of The Witcher 3. With Ciri reportedly taking center stage in this installment, preserving her identity feels like a smart move.

While the face debate is settled (for now), The Witcher 4 still has plenty of mysteries to unravel. What’s the story? Where’s Geralt? And how will the next-gen tech elevate the experience? We’re still in the dark on most details, but one thing’s certain: Ciri’s stepping into the spotlight, scars and all, exactly as we remember her.

What do you think—did the teasers throw you off, or are you just glad Ciri’s staying true to form? Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and stick around for more Witcher news as it unfolds. Until then, may your paths be clear and your contracts lucrative.

People Are Already Streaming Assassin’s Creed: Shadows A Month Ahead Of It’s Scheduled Release Date

February 26, 2025

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is supposed to be released in a month, but that hasn’t prevented players from streaming the game already. Everybody remembers the controversy when the setting and time frame behind Assassin’s Creed: Shadows were revealed. If the game isn’t supposed to be released for a month, how are people already streaming it?

While the rumored streams could be a hoax, the streams do look real. No one knows how these streams exist a month before the release date. Ubisoft has yet to comment on these streams. As with anything that happens in the gaming world, these early streams have supporters and detractors. If more people start streaming the game without Ubisoft’s permission, maybe Ubisoft should just release the game now instead of waiting until March 25.

The City Is Coming To WWE2K25

February 13, 2025

During PlayStation’s State of Play, a new mode was announced for WWE2K25. NBA 2K has The City, so WWE2K will be getting The Island. Up to 50 wrestlers could be in this mode at any one time, and you use superstars you are taking through My Rise to customize their attire and build up their skills.

How do you do that? This is one part they tried to hide in State of Play. If you want to get different clothing for your wrestler, you have to spend tens of thousands of dollars in virtual currency. There is no doubt that you can spend real money instead of earning virtual currency, which was the point behind the island in WWE2K25.

This mode is only happening on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series so if you are playing on older hardware, I’m not sure how this will affect you. People are also wondering if this is going to impact Community Creations People are also wondering if this will be the only way to build up created wrestlers.

With 2K having the WWE license, I think something like this was just a matter of time. How this will affect the entire game will be found out when WWE2K25 comes out. People already hate what this looks like but will enough people support it to make it seem worthwhile to 2K?

A TV Series Is Being Made Based On Beyond: Two Souls

February 4, 2025

It has been reported recently that Beyond: Two Souls is a TV series that will be in development. The concern about this project is that this TV series might end up not seeing the end of the day. There was a game called Heavy Rain which was supposed to have its episodic series on HBO but that series never materialized.

Personally, I would love to see TV series based on both shows. People who remember what happened turning the video game from the 90s may be happy to hear that the Heavy RAIn TV series never got started and they may hope the same for the Beyond Two Touls: TV series. However, video games turned into movies are no longer a guaranteed fail.

Besides Annihilation, Mortal Kombat had good movies based on them. Sonic The Hedgehog and the recent Super Mario Bros. movie are positive in the opinion of viewers. While Heavy Rain would make a great series, the same can be said for Beyond: Two Souls. Whether or not this project gets completed, time will tell and time will tell if it turns out to be a good TV series or bad TV series.

I would love for a company to produce a Heavy Rain television series as well. But hearing a video game series is being turned into a movie or television series is no longer a cause for concern. What other games might translate into a good movie or TV series?

Welcome Master Chief To PlayStation

January 17, 2025

When Sega decided to leave the console race after the Dreamcast had fallen in popularity and gamers cared more about the PlayStation 2, original Xbox, and Nintendo Gamecube, we saw Sonic Advance appear on the Game Boy Advance in 2002. It was the first time that Sonic appeared on a Nintendo console. This was proof that Sega was done as a hardware developer.

Microsft had started porting their games to other consoles and at first, it was games that were not selling anymore on Xbox. If an Xbox gamer wanted Sea of Thieves, that gamer had purchased it and it made sense to take these games where sales had stopped generating on its original console and introduce these games to other gamers that didn’t have an Xbox.

However, there are reports in 2025 that the next Microsoft character coming to a Sony console is Master Chief. When a console brings its most recognizable character, like Sonic the Hedgehog or Master Chief, to the console from the competitor, am I supposed to believe that the original console, like Xbox, is fine?

This can be spun by Phil Spencer, who would claim that this is all about bringing in more players. However, there is a difference between bringing in more players and porting your exclusive games to the competitor, which reduces the number of reasons for anyone to purchase your console. If Master Chief is coming to PlayStation, what reasons are left to buy an Xbox instead of a PlayStation? If Microsoft is quietly leaving the console race, what Sony did with the PS5 Pro could become the norm for future consoles.

A New Turok Game Has Been Announced

December 25, 2024

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter first came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Four games were released for the Nintendo 64 and the Game Boy Color. After that, a game came out on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. Ports would follow on the Game Boy Color and there was a PC port for the European region. The last game that came out for Turok was on the Xbox 360 in 2008. There was a game released in 2019 called Turok: Escape from Lost Valley which came out in 2019 but was delisted in 2022.

When Turok came out on the Xbox 360 in 2008, it seemed like Turok was going to make a comeback and possibly have more sequels like it did during the Nintendo 64 days. Unfortunately, Turok on the Xbox 360 got average scores from professional video game reviewers. While the game sold over a million copies and made money, the development team was going to make a sequel but they shut down in 2011.

At the 2024 Game Awards, a new Turok game was announced. While the original games had you play from a first perspective, Turok: Origins will play from a third-person view. You will not only take on dinosaurs but you will also have to defend yourself against aliens. You will also be able to upgrade your skills and abilities and you will be able to have friends assist you as you play through the game.

That is all the information that has been gathered from the trailer shown at the Game Awards for Turok: Origins. As someone who did enjoy the game that came out in 2008 although I did not complete it, I would love to see what a modern Turok release would look like. Only time will tell how Turok: Origins turn out to be.

A New Mafia Game

December 12, 2024

If you were a fan of the Mafia franchise, then you may have been waiting for more since Mafia 3 was released in 2016, unless you count the definitive trilogy coming out in 2020. Well, the wait for a new Mafia game is coming to an end, but they aren’t jumping to where mafia activity was big in the 1970s. The whole reason Mafia 3 took place in Chicago was because it took place during the 1960s.

The next game in the Mafia franchise is Mafia: The Old Country. The setting is San Celeste, which looks like the location where Mafia 2 opened up. In terms of story, this game will take place before the other Mafias sometime in the 1900s. You do see gunfire, knife fights, and people riding horses in the new trailer, but nothing else is revealed except that the game will come out in the Summer of 2025.

Was this the best time for a Mafia prequel? Horses will be the main mode of transportation instead of cars. With what little information has been leaked, are you looking forward to the next game in the Mafia franchise?

Pay More For Your Games To Look Worse

December 3, 2024

Many people looked at the PlayStation 5 Pro as a scam when it was first announced. At launch, it cost $200 more than the original PlayStation 5, and then it was an extra $100 if you wanted the disc drive and stand that you had to buy separately. If that wasn’t enough to drive people away, it seems that some games run worse on the PlayStation 5 in terms of graphics instead of looking better.

Since no new games were announced alongside the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony’s selling point was this console would make your games look even better. If you already played on a PlayStation 5 then the upgrade was barely noticeable unless you went over screenshots of a scene from a game played on a normal PlayStation 5 and the same scene played on a PlayStation 5 Pro then you might notice the upgrades. Why pay hundreds of dollars and then look for improvements like you are looking at the “Find the item in the picture” in a Highlights magazine does not make much sense to me.

No answers other than that it’s being looked into have come from developers. But right now, you can pay hundreds of dollars to play some of your current games with worse graphics. Is it any wonder some people think, “Boy, do I hate this generation of Gaming?”

The Founder Of Arkane Austin Called Microsoft “Stupid” For Shutting Down Their Studio

November 4, 2024

Microsoft had closed down Arkane Austin after the debacle of Redfall, one of the two games Microsoft planned to carry their brand. Shortly after Redfall failed to be good, the studio responsible for creating Redfall was shut down. The studio that created Redfall was Arkane Austin. They also made the Dishonored series and Prey.

Recently the founder of Arkane Austin said it was a stupid decision for Microsoft to shut down this studio because Microsoft will never be able to have the team this studio had which the founder of Arkane Austin called a “dream team.” Phil Spencer from Microsoft has made many questionable decision recently as well as in the past.

The real problem is taking studios that made great single-player games and putting that team in charge of making an online co-op shooter. That seems to be the story of many studios that release major flops. Rocksteady went from working on the Batman Arkham games to working on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Unfortunately, it’s still a mystery why executives continue to put development teams in this predicament. All these experiments lose money instead of being the money generator that executives expect them to be, Until executives in game development companies come face to face with reality, don’t expect much to change.

Why The Absence?

October 22, 2024

In case you were wondering why the website has not been updated, there is a reason. I live in South Georgia, and on September 27, 2024, we were hit by Hurricane Helene. I was without power for a week, but I was without internet until two days ago.

This isn’t going to be a long update. It’s just that for the last three and a half weeks, I could not add anything to this website or do anything for the store except ship out deliveries when items were purchased. So there will be more updates coming to the website. It’s just that for most of October, I wasn’t able to update anything.

Would Crash Bandicoot 5 Have Succeeded If It Was Completed?

September 1, 2024

Does anyone remember the crossover titles with Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon? This crossover stretched between two titles exclusive to the Game Boy Advance. The games were Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy and Crash Purple: Ripto’s Rampage.

If you never played these Game Boy Advance games, they were games with mini-games and once you beat three mini-games three times, the level to the boss would open. The mini-games would increase in difficulty every time you beat it until you beat it the third time.

The first boss fight would feature Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon taking on one another and mistaking the other one for being evil. After their boss fight, they both realize they want the same thing which is to stop Dr. Neo Cortex and Ripto who were teaming up. So Spyro The Dragon and Crash Bandicoot figured they would team up to stop them. Why am I bringing up the story for these two Game Boy Advance games that received mediocre scores from reviewers?

The reason for bringing this up is that Toys For Bob would bring together Spyro The Dragon and Crash Bandicoot to work together in Crash 5. Crash 5 was only worked on for three to four months before it was canceled by Activision. One reason is because Crash 4 did not sell well. Instead of working on Crash Bandicoot 5, Activision wanted to focus on online games like Call Of Duty: Warzone.

Would Crash Bandicoot 5 have connected with gamers if it was completed? Toys for Bob did say that both Spyro and Crash would have been playable in Crash Bandicoot 5 and both characters would be trying to save their respective worlds from the same threat. I don’t think they would have gone the same route with mini-games like the Game Boy Advance game. Would you like to have seen a console game featuring Crash Bandicoot and Spyro The Dragon working together? It’s interesting to wonder if this game would have sold well and been received well.

Will I Purchase Total Extreme Wrestling IX?

August 16, 2024

If you watch my content on YouTube or Twitch, one of my favorite games to play is Total Extreme Wrestling 2020. It is my favorite game to play when I want to be in control of a wrestling company. Total Extreme Wrestling IX has come out at the beginning of the month but does that mean I will be spending the $35 to pick up TEW IX?

The answer is not exactly. When I picked up Total Extreme Wrestling 2020, I upgraded from Total Extreme Wrestling 2005, which is free. One feature that made me choose to purchase Total Extreme Wrestling 2020 is that 2020 was the first game where you could run a developmental company without having to run a parent company. You could run NXT and not have to worry about running WWE. That and not having upgraded to a new Total Extreme Wrestling game since 2005 were the reasons I paid for Total Extreme Wrestling 2020.

I have seen new features in Total Extreme Wrestling IX which require you to have creative points to run one “A” show and you get those points from meetings. You can choose about five people to be on your creative team to be in these meetings and how good these employees are at booking will decide how many points you get to run a wrestling show.

While that is interesting, it’s not enough to make me pull the trigger on purchasing Total Extreme Wrestling IX yet. I would like to know what other features are in this game that I have not heard about yet.

WWE 2K24 Update Causing More Problems Then They Fix

July 26, 2024

If you have been paying attention to the WWE2K games over the last week then you know WWE 2K24 has been talked about and has yet to be in a good way. The most expensive cards in My Faction cost $100 of real money and people are upset with the Pat Mcafee DLC pack including wrestlers like Ty Schmitt and Boston Connor.

However, what is worse than MyFaction trying to get as much money out of you as possible and DLC content that no one wanted is the latest update which has destabilized WWE 2K24. There are created wrestlers that have hair and then come out bald which you use in a match. RGT85 reported that he lost a lot of created wrestlers and progress in Universe Mode because of this update. Other people reported CPU entering and exiting the ring or leaving and coming back into the ring repeatedly among other problems.

Hearing about this makes me remember when WWE2K18 got its first update which removed features from the game and took away some of the fun in Universe Mode. In previous WWE games, wrestlers could get injured in normal matches and be unusable in the WWE Universe for a while. When WWE2K18 first came out, I had Rob Van Dam be carried out on a stretcher after losing to Jinder Mahal in the ECW arena then since the earliest updates in WWE 2K18, nobody gets injured despite injuries being on.

After disappointing fans with the disaster that was WWE 2K20, WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K23 did seem to earn the trust of players back. However, when WWE 2K24 came out, there were problems with the game being operational from the beginning in certain modes. It has been four months since the release of WWE 2K24 came out and there are still problems with this game.

Is Crazy Taxi Being Revived As A Franchise?

July 6, 2024

When the Sega Dreamcast was released, the Dreamcast had great games that were later ported to different consoles. When Crazy Taxi came out, it was the second best-selling game on the Sega Dreamcast selling three-quarters of a million copies. Crazy Taxi would be ported to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 and have two sequels if you only counted mainline entries.

22 years after Crazy Taxi 3 came out, it sounds like this franchise is being revived along with others like Jet Set Radio and Shinobi. The new Crazy Taxi game will have multiplayer elements like an MMO would. There are very few details that are known about the new Crazy Taxi.

In the little gameplay footage that was shown, you could see a police-like taxi chasing other taxis which might mean this new Crazy Taxi game will have some similar mode to Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit where you have to chase down other taxis.

When I first heard that the new Crazy Taxi game would have multiplayer aspects, I was thinking possibly that players would be driving their fares at the same time. They might get in the way of other players or you might see other fares get picked up by players that were able to reach them up before you. That’s not to say this could not happen in the new Crazy Taxi.

Reports suggest that this game will take place in a state like California and that this game will be open world. That is all the information that has been reported on the new Crazy Taxi so far. Will the new Crazy Taxi be a successful game? It’s too early to tell but I would love to see what the new Crazy Taxi game looks like.

Actually Excited For A Modern Game

June 19, 2024

When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge came out, it was the nostalgic Ninja Turtles game that everyone wanted to play. More franchises are going to have games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. At Summer Games Fest, we saw a trailer for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind.

There are a couple of reasons I am excited about this game. One of those reasons is that I was a big fan of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers in 1995 and 1996. The enemies that we saw in this trailer are enemies that were featured in the television show when I used to watch this show. By the time I was a fan, Rita Repulsive had become the main antagonist and I also watched when Lord Zedd also was one of the main antagonists.

The other reason I am excited about this game is because of how much fun Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a perfect series to get a game like this and I was hyped after seeing the trailer which doesn’t happen with many modern games today.

I am so excited about this game that I am willing to get a month of Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to play this game online. I let my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription expire in May of 2023 and I haven’t renewed it since but I am willing to so I can play this game online.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is supposed to come out sometime later this year in 2024. A specific release date has not been announced yet but I will be anticipating the release of this game which unfortunately is a rarity in modern gaming.

Microsoft Shouldn’t Have Purchased Activision Blizzard

May 24, 2024

One of the biggest disappointments in gaming has to be: What Microsoft has done since acquiring Activision Blizzard? The huge price that Microsoft paid could have opened many different possibilities for games that would see a sequel or a reboot.

True Crime had two games: Streets of LA and Streets of New York. You could count Sleeping Dogs which just went with a different title but was like a True Crime game. The first two Tony Hawk games were released in a collection, which sparked a lot of interest. Most people wanted to know which franchises would be brought back and it turns out Microsoft brought nothing back like people were hoping.

Instead, Microsoft has shut down studios that had successful releases and their next plan to capitalize on this purchase is to bring the next Call of Duty game to Game Pass. It is a known fact that if your game launches on Game Pass, it could translate to low sales. Call of Duty may be the biggest franchise from this Activision Blizzard purchase and they want to put it open to anyone who has an active Game Pass subscription.

It would not be a bad idea to add older Call of Duty games to Game Pass because that would not hurt sales especially since most Call Of Duty games are not selling anymore. But why would you take a chance on cannibalizing sales of a new Call of Duty? It makes me wonder if executives in gaming companies have lost the ability to have a good thought.

If I had the money to acquire Activision Blizzard and its franchises, I would have contacted the different studios and wanted to see the budget and revenue for the last game released of every franchise that I would own to see which franchises had the most interest and then talk with the studio responsible to set up plans for a sequel or reboot. With Microsoft shutting down successful studios and wanting to launch the next Call of Duty on Game Pass, I wish the purchase of Activision Blizzard from Microsoft never happened.

AEW Disappointment Forever?

May 15, 2024

When people heard that All Elite Wrestling would have a video game based on their company, the hype was big. For years, if you wanted to play a wrestling game, there was one choice for many years: WWE. Our last alternative choice was TNA Impact and then AAA: Lucha Libre Heroes Del Ring. Also, this game was going to have THQ Nordic and Yukes working on the game as well as the director of WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64. With these people working on the game, how could the game not live up to the hype of being a modern-day version of WWF No Mercy with an AEW backdrop?

While I have not purchased the game, I have seen gameplay videos and heard the complaints but this is not a review of the game. There is a season mode where you get hired to compete at Double Or Nothing in the Casino Battle Royal and progress your way to the next Double Or Nothing. The problem is, it doesn’t matter who you pick or how many times you play the game, the story is going to be the same. Sure the people you interact with will be different but those different wrestlers will play the same roles as other wrestlers did in your previous playthrough;. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of WWF’s No Mercy Championship paths, at least there were many different stories in these championship paths.

The way to describe the match modes that were available at launch was bare bones. There were more match types in WWF No Mercy than there were when AEW Fight Forever launched. Also, the roster at launch fell short unless you want to buy the DLC which leads me to my next point.

There were announcements when the game was first released that DLC packs with wrestlers would be added. Who is pricing these DLC? They want to charge single wrestlers for $12 or you can get a trio of wrestlers if you pay $25. Even the DLC for WWE 2K24 isn’t this expensive. Also after every season pass (which releases every three months), AEW Fight Forever releases a new edition of the game with the previous DLC included.

These are some of the reasons people are disappointed with AEW FFight Forever. You might be better off purchasing an N64 online with a physical cartridge of WWF No Mercy and you might be better off. They have to make DLC cheaper or include more in every season pack. The game does need more wrestlers but also more match types. Unfortunately, I don’t think Yukes will be able to turn the future of AEW Fight Forever around.

The Current Situation With Helldivers 2

May 5, 2024

If you have been paying attention to gaming news recently, you may have heard about the recent situation regarding Helldivers 2. For those of you who need to learn what is going on, it will be a requirement to link your Steam account with PlayStation Network if you play Helldivers 2 on Steam.

Some gamers want to avoid connecting their Steam account with the PlayStation Network because the PlayStation network has been hacked multiple times. The biggest breach was in April of 2011 when gamers could get two free PlayStation 3 games, two free PSP games, two free songs from iTunes, or one of the other rewards if they kept their PlayStation Network account active. While that was the biggest breach, it’s not the only time Playstation Network has been hacked. People don’t feel secure putting their Steam accounts at risk by linking them with their PlayStation Network accounts.

Some gamers can not do this because PlayStation Network is not available in all the countries that Steam is available in. If PlayStation Network is not available then linking your Steam account to a PlayStation Network account is not possible. If people use a VPN to select a different country where PlayStation Network is possible and it’s found out that a VPN is being used to lie about their country, that would be a violation of the terms of service. No refunds have been offered for the people who can’t create a PlayStation Network account.

What has happened since this ultimatum has come to light? The countries that don’t have access to PlayStation Network have delisted Helldivers 2. Arrowhead who developed Helldivers 2 said they are trying to come up with a solution that would make everyone happy but Arrowhead also said that they do not make the final decision.

This ultimatum has destroyed the reputation of Helldivers 2. Reviews for the game are overwhelmingly negative and Sony is to blame since this was their ultimatum. Whether or not a solution that will satisfy everyone will be reached is unknown at this point. Unfortunately, this is just one of many problems with modern gaming.

New Screenshots Released Of The Wolf Among Us 2

April 22, 2024

In 2013, The Wolf Among Us came out which was developed by TellTale Games and many people who played the game loved it. While many people were hoping for a sequel, TellTale games would shut their doors for good in 2018. This was during the final season of The Walking Dead that focused on Clementine’s story arc and that game was finished thanks to Skybound Games.

However, Telltale Games would re-open under new management and one of the first games announced in 2019 was The Wolf Among Us 2. There were concerns about the future of The Wolf Among Us 2 after TellTale Games laid people off from their jobs. The Wolf Among Us was supposed to come out in 2023 but was delayed.

TellTale Games has said they are still developing the game although there is no new release date announced and they have released four new screenshots for the public to see. This shows that The Wolf Among Us 2 is still being worked on which is good news for fans that have wanted to see a sequel for so long.

Personally, I am happy that The Wolf Among Us 2 is still being worked on. While I can’t wait to see the final product, I do want TellTale Games to take as long as they need to make this game correctly. There were a couple of glitches I encountered in the first Wolf Among Us which included conversation choices appearing in Spanish with the outcome of that choice appearing in English. I reset the game and next time, the choices appeared in English but the outcome was in Spanish. That’s why while I can’t wait to see the final product, I do want TellTale Games to take the time they need to iron out any issues in this game.

That’ll Be $70 + Tip

April 17, 2024

It was not long ago when games raised their prices from $60 to $70 for base versions of a game. Special editions of a game also raised their prices but game publishers are still claiming that games need to cost more because the cost to develop them has become much higher. We have seen publishers defend microtransactions and other ways for games to be monetized.

Mike Ybarra who used to be the president of Blizzard has come up with the dumbest take yet on how games should be monetized. He thinks games should include a tip button so players can pay even more money for games that amaze players. There are problems that players have brought up including the money from tips never making it to developers.

Dustin Legarie a video director from IGN had one comment many players will most likely agree with. He said these big companies should pay their employees fairly instead of asking the players for more money. While video games cost more to make, it’s amazing how tone-deaf executives in video game companies are when they try to attack the problem of developers not being paid fairly.

Charging the player more is not going to be the answer. If executives want their video games to make more, it’s really simple. Maybe executives should ask themselves this question when they task developers to work on their next project. Does this game have a captivating story? Do the characters in this video game feel like real people or do they feel one dimensional? Does the game have controls that aren’t overly complicated? Is the game fun to play? If no is the answer to any of these questions, then that is the problem.

It’s not like developers can’t make these games. Robocop: Rogue City had 435,000 people playing the game after being out for two weeks. Did Robocop: Rogue City bombard the player with microtransactions? No, they focused on creating a fun game that people would want to play. Newsflash to executives: the same can be said about Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Wii Sports, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon, and many more games.

The point is if a video game provides great value to a player then that game will sell and become a success. I have never been against DLC in a game when the content provides value to the game. But executives have to learn, that if they want to make money off a game, they have to provide fun games that people want to play.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Could Be Taken Offline 11 Months After Launching

April 11, 2024

Remember when Marvel’s Avengers was one of the biggest gaming disasters? WB thought they could do better than Square Enix when they had Rocksteady develop Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. While this failure has been discussed to death, there are more reasons to discuss it because of the news that has come out regarding the short future of this game.

After the reception of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was unanimously negative, WB and Rocksteady were planning on the DLC that would help the player base of the game grow and make Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League become a success. Everyone who has been paying attention to this situation knows The Joker DLC was a big flop.

There were rumors of more characters planning to be DLC like Deathstroke, Lawless, and Mrs. Freeze. While that DLC is still planning to come, Rocksteady is also planning to no longer support this game by the beginning of 2025 That could change if the new DLC saves the game but if The Joker couldn’t save this game, what are the chances that any kind of DLC could save this game?

The biggest shame from this is that WB hasn’t learned their lesson. They still want to make more live service games and believe that is the future even though they already claimed that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League fell below expectations. I don’t know why executives think digging their heels in and going against what gamers want sounds like a great business plan.

Publishers will claim it’s due to the cost of making these games. While that sounds like a good reason on paper, it sounds like bullshit once you think it through. Grand Theft Auto V cost anywhere between 165-250 million dollars to make and it made a billion dollars in sales in three days. Unfortunately, executives don’t realize they just have to make a good game and not nickel and dime their players to death and that game would probably be a financial success. If Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is taken offline 11 months after it came out, someone should bring these executives back to reality before they plan out their next live service disaster.

Tekken 8 Is Receiving A Battle Pass

April 4, 2024

Tekken is a franchise that began on the original PlayStation and Tekken games are still being released today with Tekken 8 being the latest game. Unfortunately, the latest update is going to be adding a battle pass which allows players to unlock in-game items or purchase these items although no specifics have been announced.

While other games have a battle pass, this is just greed from publishers. Those other games that usually have battle passes are free to play but people who purchased Tekken 8 on release day had to pay $70. One big feature that players looked forward to is being able to change costumes on characters making these characters look like characters that are not from the Tekken series.

Some people have made Leon Kennedy appear in Tekken by changing the costume of a specific character and now players are wondering if this feature will only be available through Tekken’s new battle pass.

Publishers will defend this by saying that the costs of games are higher than ever before and this is the only way that costs of modern-day games can be covered. What this doesn’t explain is why this Battle Pass was kept out of the game for the first two and a half months. Publishers wanted to get their game a good score and a battle pass around since day one would have driven down the review score that Tekken 8 got.

What Should Be In A Chrono Trigger Remake?

March 19, 2024

Having just uploaded of my review for Chrono Trigger on Super Nintendo, that game was in the news recently. Yoshinori Kitase was the director of Chrono Trigger and he asked if Chrono Trigger was to be remade, what would fans want in a remake? Yoshinori was also a producer on the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. If the trilogy of Final Fantasy VII could be remade, why not Chrono Trigger? I can’t answer what most people would want but I know what I would like to see in a re-make of Chrono Trigger.

This is not going to be long because Chrono Trigger is already a great game so I wouldn’t want to see too many changes. I’ll use Final Fantasy VIII on Xbox One as an example of what I would like to see in a Chrono Trigger remake.

First I want the models, maps, and backgrounds to stay the same. If the game is completely revamped to look like it was a game made today, I think Chrono Trigger would lose some of its charm.

I would like to see the cutscenes that made it into the PlayStation version in the remake. While not playing the PlayStation version to completion, I only saw two cutscenes happen in the game. The first one is when Crono, Lucca, and Marle discover Robo. The other one is when Frog takes the Masamune and cuts the foot of a mountain in half so the party can confront Magus. If there is a re-make coming, I would like those cutscenes to be included but I would like some more as well.

I don’t know if this could be done but another thing I would like to hear in a re-make is voice acting. There is a lot of dialogue in games like Chrono Trigger so I don’t know if it would be possible but if it was, that is what I’d like to see included.

Unfortunately, that’s all I would like to see in a re-make. Chrono Trigger was a great game and if too much is changed, that could ruin the game many people love today. If Chrono Trigger was being re-made, what would you like to see?

There Is No Racism In Resident Evil 5

March 16, 2024

If you have been online listening to gaming commentators, two big stories happened this week. One is the horrible launch of Star Wars Battlefront: The Classic collection having a horrible launch and IGN making one of the dumbest statements saying Resident Evil 5 is Racist. While idiots who look and see racism everywhere might agree, people who can think rationally realize how dumb this statement is.

For those of you who may have never played Resident Evil 5, it takes place in Africa. The people in the specific village are suffering from the same virus that made Europeans want to kill Leon in Resident Evil 4. Chris Redfield and Sheva have to arrest Ricardo Irving who is trying to sell a bioweapon on the black market. Ricardo escapes with the help of someone wearing a black hood and coat. When Sheva’s mentor arrives, Chris sees a picture of Jill Valentine who Chris thought died the last time he and Jill Valentine tried to take down Albert Wesker. With this realization that Jill might be alive, Chris has to find out for sure and when Chris refuses to leave before he gets his answer, Sheva agrees to back up Chris.

IGN makes the complaint that Chris is racist because he is killing black people. What does this say about Sheva who is black? When IGN made this statement, they pretended Sheva didn’t exist and only tried to paint Chris in a negative light. Presenting the argument this way shows how dumb the point they are trying to make is.

If IGN hasn’t made themselves look like fools already, when they reviewed Resident Evil 5 when it first came out, IGN gave them 9,3 out of 10. Congratulations IGN, not only do you look like a fool but you also look like a hypocrite. This is why companies need to stop searching for racism in places it doesn’t exist.

Why Live Service Games Failing Are A Good Thing

March 12, 2024

Marvel’s Avengers were one of the biggest flops when it came to a live service game. Unfortunately, more publishers want to focus on live service games thinking they will keep making money for months or years after being released. At the beginning of February 2024, a new live service game was released that was titled Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was such a failure that the highest player count was less than half of the all-time highest player count of Marvel’s Avengers. Many people found the gameplay in the Suicide Squad game to be boring and repetitive. People were unhappy with how most superheroes met their demise. This was on top of the servers having problems to the point where people who paid for early access couldn’t access the game for a certain amount of time.

WB announced that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League did not meet their expectations but surprisingly, they are not revising their strategy for the near future. WB wants to go even further and make more live service games. This is on top of Hogwarts Legacy being the best game of 2023 which was a single-player game and the Harry Potter IP also belongs to WB.

Another live service game is Skull & Bones. This product comes from Ubisoft. While there is no data on the highest all-time player count, Skull & Bones has sold 850,000 copies in its first month. That is below games like Palworld, Tekken 8, and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth selling over a million copies within their first month. Some games reached a million sales in their second week.

The point about these lice service games falling below expectations is a good thing. If these games were reaching or surpassing the expected number of sales, publishers would continue pushing live service games. It’s shocking that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League failing just made WB dig their heels in and not change course. But if these live service games continue to fail, the publishers pushing these games to be made will eventually have to change course or go out of business/

People don’t want these live service games because these are games that you have to keep paying for by purchasing different items known as microtransactions. Many players can’t afford to pay for multiple live service games. However, the executives making the decisions seem to be too out of touch to come to those realizations. But if players continue speaking with their wallets, players can get their message across and there will be one day when publishers have to listen to the consumers instead of creating what they want.

I Want A WWE Game With GM Mode, But Which One Should I Get?

March 4, 2024

I saw LordOfPatriarchy playing GM Mode in WWE 2K23 and my original feelings towards the return of GM Mode have changed. I do plan to get a WWE game soon and I want one that has the GM Mode. I can always get WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW 2007 or WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW 2008 and there are good things and bad things about those entries. I’ve also considered getting WWE 2K23 for Xbox One

I do not want WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW 2006 was the first ever game to have the General Manager mode. While the mode in that game was decent, there were a lot of text menus and it was alright as a starting point. I believe WWE 2K22 also had the same mode but I don’t think I would be interested because the roster is already two or three years old in that game.

Let me look over the options I can’t decide between so I can lay out the benefits and drawbacks. WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW 2007 had you choose between RAW and Smackdown and each show had their World Championship, a secondary championship, the Tag Team Championship, and then another championship. If it was RAW, they had the Women’s Title while Smackdown had the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The roster included wrestlers like Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit.

WWE Smackdown Vs. RAW 2008 which was the last game in the Smackdown vs. RAW franchise to have the General Manager Mode also had benefits and drawbacks. While wrestlers like Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit were absent from this entry, this game did have ECW as a third brand that you could play in General Manager mode. You couldn’t use Tommy Dreamer since he was the GM of ECW. Paul Heyman who had either been fired or quit in real life was not in the game just like The Big Show who had been replaced by Bobby Lashley. Besides One Night Stand and December to Dismember, there are a bunch of generic ECW PPVs that are ECW exclusive in General Manager mode. If you unlock all wrestlers, every show could have a roster of 20 and still have wrestlers available in Free Agency. This is also the only game with General Manager mode where I completed a full year and the Post WrestleMania draft did mix things up.

The most recent game I have been considering is WWE 2K23. It’s cool that you have specific objectives from Triple H to fulfill every week. Arenas look better as the mode goes on because you unlock more options as the season goes on. The roster is also the most current except for WWE 2K24 which is available for early-access players tomorrow if I’m not mistaken. I heard WWE 2K22 GM Mode would not let you go from season to season with superstar shake-ups but I heard that has been fixed in WWE 2K23.

I’m trying to decide which game to get. I will be purchasing one of them once I’m working again. By then, WWE 2K24 might have its arguments why I should get that game although it will be the most expensive option. But if people reading this do have an opinion of which game to pick, I am interested in hearing which one they would choose along with why.

Two Characters Removed From WWE2K24

February 24, 2024

In about a week and a half, WWE 2K24 will be coming out and their showcase mode will be 40 years of WrestleMania. That showcase will have players playing through previous matches from WrestleMania in the past while trying to fulfill certain objectives. This was in WWE 2K14 under 30 years of WrestleMania but this game will not be like the last one.

When Vince McMahon had lawsuits brought against him, one wrestler named in connection with those lawsuits was Brock Lesnar. When this news came out, Brock Lesnar was removed from the cover of WWE 2K24. 2K also revealed 16 of the 21 matches that people will play in the 40 years of WrestleMania and Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg at WrestleMania XX was not one of those matches despite that match being present in WWE 2K14.

Reports have also come out that Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon will not be playable in WWE 2K24. All of this is understandable but it also means that players will be missing out. Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle from Wrestlemania 19 could not be included in WWE 2K14 since Kurt Angle was wrestling for Impact Wrestling at the time.

This is not to defend anything Brock Lesnar or Vince McMahon may have done. If the allegations are proven to be true, what they did was reprehensible and there is no defense for either of them. It just sucks for players that two more characters will most likely be getting the Chris Benoit treatment for at least the foreseeable future.

Is The PS5 Worth It?

February 21, 2024

This console generation has been weird, to say the least. The PlayStation 5 has 13 games that are exclusive to the console. Two of those games are VR which means they require extra peripherals that most people can’t afford. Since there are only 13 games that require the PlayStation 5 to play, Sony figures it’s a good time to release a PS5 Pro. What?

Remember that the PlayStation 5 came out in November of 2020. Many people needed help affording one due to not working because of COVID and scalpers purchasing PS5s as soon as they were available. Even with those events happening during the launch of the PlayStation 5, Sony thinks with 13 exclusives that aren’t playable on PlayStation 4, Up to four years is enough time to release a pro version of the PS5.

At this point, why would I get the PS5 or PS5 Pro? Sony also said PlayStation 5 is in the latter half of its life cycle. Another fact is that Sony said no first-party titles would be released until 2025 at least so there will be no first-party PS5 exclusives coming out before the PS5 Pro is scheduled to come out.

I don’t know what is going on with the console developers. Everyone heard the successor to the Nintendo Switch was coming out in 2024 but that is coming out in 2025. Phil Spencer from Microsoft said they lost the console war but they are not giving up on consoles but they are interested in getting Game Pass playable on every device possible. Now Sony has a small list of PS5 games that can not be played on PS4 and with no first-party releases scheduled to come out until 2025, they are releasing a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024.

Representation Of Different Groups In Video Games Is Nonsense

February 17, 2024

One of the biggest wastes of time is when different activist groups say that media needs to be more representative of different groups like people of a certain skin color or sexual orientation. It was bad enough when this nonsense started changing movies and TV shows But now activist groups are trying to inject this nonsense into video games.

If video games need to be so representative, how were games featuring Kirby so successful? Why are puzzle games so popular when they normally don’t include any human beings in the game? Games like Tetris and Kirby were successful and they didn’t worry about the inclusion of different groups. Those games were successful because they are games that are fun to play.

What the activist groups want to do is inject people of different skin color or sexual orientations regardless of the context of the story being told. Before I get called the names of people who usually disagree with representation being a factor in video games, I played Life Is Strange: Before The Storm and Life Is Strange: True Colors. Chloe and Alex can be in lesbian storylines in those games respectively. I chose that option when playing through both of those games and I enjoyed those games because the games told a great story. and they were fun to play They weren’t adding people in just to meet some representation quota.

Video games should be fun to play and it’s a bonus if they have a great story that is being told. Representation being so important is nonsense. Many people love Pokemon games but I don’t know how many people feel like they can relate to Pikachu. The sooner these activist groups leave video games alone, and we stop caring about representation in all types of media, the better media will be as a whole.

Will We Ever Get A WWE Video Game Named Summerslam?

February 12, 2024

If you were a fan of the World Wrestling Federation in the mid-90s then you may remember how they had five big pay-per-views every year before changing to a monthly model in 1995 and filling the other seven months with a PPV called In Your House. Of the big five pay-per-views, only four had been used as the title of a WWF or WWE video game. So will we ever get a WWF Summerslam video game?

WWF Royal Rumble came out on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Royal Rumble was also used as the name for an arcade game which was eventually ported to the Sega Dreamcast.

The biggest event of the year for WWE named WrestleMania has been the name for many games. The first home console game not counting PCs was WWF WrestleMania. The sequel was WWF WrestleMania Challenge. The first WWF game on the Super Nintendo was WWF Super WrestleMania. The sequel to WWF Attitude on the Nintendo 64 was WWF WrestleMania 2000. The Wrestlemania name also was the name of WWF games on the Nintendo Gamecube and the Microsoft Xbox.

WWF King of the Ring came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Game Boy. After that, the name of the King of the Ring was never used as the name for another video game released by WWF.

To my knowledge, there was only one game released with the name WWE Survivor Series. This game was released on Game Boy Advance. It featured eight wrestlers from RAW and eight from Smackdown with Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman as general managers.

But if you look through the history of games released by WWF & WWE, you would never see a Summerslam title. Since WWE wants to stick to releasing annual sequels, it’s doubtful we will get a wrestling video game titled Summerslam. Even when there is a spin-off, it’s really unlikely that would be named WWE Summerslam.

Is Microsoft Discontinuing The Xbox

February 7, 2024

There have been many rumors about the future of Microsoft and Xbox specifically. Microsoft is considering bringing Gears Of War to PlayStation. People are wondering if that means other titles could be coming to PlayStation and Nintendo, which makes people question the future of Xbox.

Some people think Microsoft is going the way Sega did after the failure of the Dreamcast. That would mean the only companies still making consoles would be Sony and Nintendo. While there might be small console developers, in the 90s it was between Nintendo and Sega. Sony was interested in creating their video game console when their partnership with Nintendo to make an add-on for the Super Nintendo died out. When Sega bowed out of the console market, Sony and Nintendo competed and that is when Microsoft joined the console race taking the spot of Sega.

Ever since Sony joined the console race, we always had three major consoles to choose from. If Microsoft is dumping the Xbox then we would just have Sony and Nintendo to choose from. We did only have two choices in the 90s between Nintendo and Sega but that was also after the video game crash when consoles were making a comeback in North America. If Microsoft dumps the Xbox, we could be back to two choices again.

Microsoft seems to care more about Game Pass than their console bragging about bringing Game Pass to every platform possible. With these announcements going on, Phil Spencer has remained silent only offering to discuss the future of Xbox next week. Some people look at this as a red flag saying if these rumors were wrong, why didn’t Phil Spencer deny them? That’s why some people think Microsoft is getting out of the console race.

While I could be wrong, it sounds like the Xbox is being dumped in favor of Game Pass. Phil Spencer already admitted defeat in the console wars. But with Xbox exclusives coming to other consoles, it sounds like we might be losing Microsoft in the console wars.

Get Ready For Games To Cost More

January 27, 2024

In August during the pandemic, gamers discovered that NBA 2K21 would cost $70 if they wanted to purchase the game. Companies like Sony and Activision said they would also be charging $70 for their big games coming out. Well, it looks like the rise in prices isn’t stopping yet.

Publishers are considering charging their consumers anywhere between $80-$100 per game over the next three years. This is not just a pricing issue but there is a principle. Developers sometimes release games in a broken state requiring a patch and most games are not playable without that patch.

The cost of the game isn’t the only expense. If the game has an online mode then you have to pay to play the game online. Games also make money by relying on microtransactions. While consumers would be happy if microtransactions went away for something like DLC, it looks like that won’t be happening.

Another problem with the raise is the time frame. Games could go up $40 in only four years. While game prices stayed stagnant for a long time, consumers can not deal with a 67% rise in prices happening over a few years.

Developers and publishers would probably tell you to join a monthly service depending on what console you have. If you don’t want to deal with the way games are going whether because of the increase in price or decrease in quality, numerous retro games are affordable. But if you want to stick to current-gen games then you will need to expect bigger costs or stick to a service like PlayStation Plus or Game Pass.

Ice T Reveals Why Popular Def Jam Fighting Game Is MIA

January 16, 2024

If you were into wrestling or fighting games during the PlayStation 2 era, remember a game called Def Jam Vendetta. Nearly a year and a half after the release of Def Jam Vendetta, there was a sequel called Def Jam: Fight For NY. Two and a half years after the release of Def Jam: Fight For NY was a Def Jam game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 called Def Jam: Icon.

While Def Jam: Icon was released in 2007, there was never a remake or a sequel after Def Jam: Icon. Some people may think Def Jam: Icon was so bad, it killed the whole franchise but that last game is not the only reason there haven’t been any other Def Jam games in the last 17 years.

Ice-T had claimed the reason there haven’t been more Def Jam games is because of money. If they wanted rappers and their songs were on the game, they would have to pay those rappers and that would become an expensive game to make fast. Ice-T also claimed that rappers weren’t paid anything substantial to appear in Def Jam: Vendetta. The reason rappers did appear in the game for very little money is they didn’t want to be left out. However, if that game was to be made, rappers would want more money for their likeness and songs to appear in the game.

If you are looking to pick up Def Jam: Vendetta or Def Jam: Icon then you can find copies that aren’t expensive. If you want to purchase Def Jam: Fight For NY then it can get expensive especially if you are looking to purchase the game for PlayStation 2 or GameCube.

It’s a shame that it looks like Def Jam is one franchise that will not be coming back anytime soon. Many people like the first two games while feelings are not so positive when it comes to the third game. If you haven’t played the Def Jam games, then Def Jam: Vendetta is worth checking out.

Alan Wake Will Be Joining Dead By Daylight

January 11, 2024

At the end of January, Dead By Daylight will be getting a new survivor in the form of Alan Wake. Alan Wake will become a playable survivor. Along with Alan Wake, the game will be getting a new mode called “Lights Out” which still plays the same but a lot of features that players can use will be removed in this new mode.

This sounds like a great crossover for Dead By Daylight. Alan Wake will not be a silent character either because he will be voiced by the same voice actor who voices him in cutscenes. It also sounds like they are trying to die Dead By Daylight to the canon story of Alan Wake so Alan Wake isn’t showing up in Dead By Daylight just because.

The reception of this announcement is mixed. Some people love the fact that Alan Wake is being added while other people could care less. Sales for Alan Wake 2 which was released digitally only have been disappointing, to say the least.

While Alan Wake is added to the game for everyone at the end of this month, he is being tested out in the game currently. There was no definitive price on how much Alan Wake would cost to play as him in Dead by Daylight. Will this makeup for the low sales of Alan Wake 2?

Thoughts About The Lion King On Super Nintendo

January 6, 2024

On YouTube, I saw AsmongoldTv react to a speed run of The Lion King on Super Nintendo. Watching the reaction to the speedrun stirred up thoughts because I did grow up with The Lion King for Super Nintendo. So I have plenty of things to say about the game.

I never beat the game from start to finish. If I tried playing the game from the beginning, I would get stuck after the first ostrich ride on “Can’t Wait To Be King.” This would be the second time in the level where you came across blue and pink monkeys and if you roared at a pink monkey, they would change the direction they would face which would also change the direction they threw you in. I could not figure out the right combination of which monkeys I had to roar at and which ones I did not.

I did complete The Lion King on Super Nintendo with the help of a level select code. If you went to the options and hit the buttons to spell out “BARRY” then you would be able to choose which level you wanted to start on. You had to be aware of the difficulty of the game when you entered the code. If the difficulty was on Normal and you entered the code, the difficulty would change to difficult since the A button was used in the level select code. If you wanted to play a level of your choice on Easy, you had to put the game on difficult before you entered the level select code.

The fourth level, The Stampede, was my favorite level in The Lion King. Simba is being chased by larger animals but you have to watch out for obstacles coming up from the front and dodge animals that are catching up to you from behind.

The Lion King was a game marketed for kids but it turned out too difficult. Aladdin was a game that was much easier and also marketed for kids. Just like there were games marketed for kids that had a fair difficulty, there were also other games marketed for kids that were so difficult, that you wonder if developers expected kids to be able to beat their games.

Sony Changed Their Minds

December 23, 2023

It was reported earlier in the year that if you had purchased Discovery content to watch on your PlayStation, that content would no longer be watchable starting at the end of the year. While it’s common for content to no longer be sold after a certain amount of time, usually content that was purchased would still be accessible to the person who purchased it. Even if the console that content was purchased on stopped working, people would be able to log into their accounts and re-download what they originally purchased.

This is the first time content would not be viewable or re-downloadable if you had purchased it. As expected, this got many people upset or at the very least questioning if there was a drawback to digital content. But it looks like Sony has reversed course and people will not lose their Discovery content after all.

People were going to lose the content they purchased due to a license expiring and people were wondering: Why didn’t Sony renew the license with Discovery? It was reported that Sony has reached a deal with Discovery so the content people purchased will be available to people who purchased it for another two and a half years. This is a victory for the consumer.

As gaming heads towards an all-digital future, this proves that if people stand up and speak out against unfair actions, it’s possible to get companies to listen. That is why Discovery content purchased on Playstations is safe for another two and a half years. This is also why sales for Alan Wake 2 seem to be lower than most people would expect.

While this is a victory, this doesn’t mean the issue is resolved. In two and a half years, we have to see if Sony will try this again or if they will be quicker to renew their deal with Discovery the next time it’s about to end. At least if you have physical content, no company can take that content from you legally. While physical games barely exist (games that are complete on disc without patches or required downloads) physical games from the past will always be around. Prices vary making some games unaffordable to most but that is not the story for most older games. As long as the disc or cartridge is still in good shape, you can play that game without anything being changed or removed.

Is Alan Wake 2 Selling Well Digital Only?

December 17, 2023

Alan Wake 2 came out nearly two months ago and sales figures for November have not looked impressive. It looks like Alan Wake 2 being released digitally only has hurt the sales figures for Alan Wake 2.

IGN has said that the company that tracks video game sales has incomplete information because digital storefronts and game developers are not always willing to come forward with their sales figures.

However, the game’s lack of sales can not be blamed on incomplete information. People who have purchased the game are not happy with a big part of the campaign focusing on a different character.

Another reason Alan Wake 2 may have low sales is that this game was looked at as the game that would determine if gaming would move towards an all-digital future. People know gaming being 100% digital is bad for the consumer. People seem to be resisting an all-digital future and the game that people are taking a stand on is Alan Wake 2.

Many people have said they will not purchase Alan Wake 2 unless it is released physically. Are the sales going to suffer enough to delay the all-digital gaming future we seem to be moving towards? Do sales look bad just because of incomplete information? Only time will provide the answer to these questions.

Sony Removing Digital Shows Even Though Consumers Paid For Them

December 6, 2023

If you have purchased digital copies of shows on PlayStation then you probably know that Sony will be removing many of these shows by the end of the year. Even if you purchased a show, you will not be able to watch that show in the beginning of 2024.

Sony is saying this content is being removed due to licensing issues. The real problem is people paid money for these shows and the people who paid money won’t be able to retain these shows if they’re on the chopping block next year.

Obviously, this problem would be remedied mostly if Sony was giving refunds. Unfortunately, it looks like people who spent money on these digital shows are out of luck This is one reason why physical content is so important.

Usually when stores go offline, the console manufacturer will say if you downloaded what you purchased, you will be able to keep it and if you didn’t download them, you will be able to download what you purchased for the foreseable future.

What makes these shows that people purchased so different? What if the PlayStation 3 store shut down and anything you brought from that store would not work once the store was shut down? This is a move that screws consumers and people should be able to keep what they purchased even if they couldn’t purchase more.

Unfortunately, people are getting screwed if you purchased digital shows and that show is on the chopping block at the end of the year. That’s why physical media is so important to keep around although many stores are getting rid of them or having a lot less in front of the consumer. Unfortunately, if you purchase digital content, that content can be taken and currently you might not have any legal recourse when you do lose digital content.

Eminem Joins The Fortnite Roster But Who Will Care?

November 30, 2023

The news came out that Eminem will be joining the game Fortnite. My question is how many people care? Millions more people would care if Eminem was appearing in a game and it was the early to mid-2000s. The best time for Eminem to appear in a video game would have been after The Eminem Show came out or when all the hype surrounded the movie 8 Mile.

50 Cent was in a couple of video games with the first coming out the same year 50 Cent’s album The Massacre came out. Eminem also played a crooked cop in 50 Cent: Bulletproof. When 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand came out, 50 Cent’s popularity had also decreased because the album from 50 Cent that sold best was 50 Cent: Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

Eminem will have three different outfits in Fortnite but think about the average age of people who play Fortnite. Do those kids listen to music that Eminem made? Are those kids going to care? The people who would have cared my age don’t play Fortnite. Encore and Recovery are the last albums of Eminem to reach sales that go over ten million.

That’s why I don’t think people are going to care when Eminem hits Fortnite. Eminem’s fan base has shrunk and Eminem is not selling albums like he used to. But I guess time will tell if this happens to be a genius move or a desperate cash grab.

Who Killed The Chance For A Simpsons Hit & Run Sequel?

November 23, 2023

It’s not hard to find video games based on the Simpsons. Since the Nintendo Entertainment System came out, you could find video games based on The Simpsons that you could play from the comfort of your own home whether or not these video games were good varied. However, very few games were universally liked as much as The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

When The Simpsons: Hit & Run came out, it was a huge success. Everyone loved the game but the biggest headscratcher is this game never got a sequel. It turns out the developers not only intended The Simpsons: Hit & Run to have a sequel but also to become its own franchise and have multiple sequels.

The sequel was going to include airplanes, blimps, and airships. Cars and trucks would also be able to pull trailers and wagons by towing them around. Fox liked the original game and the same goes for everyone who worked on the Simpsons television show.

So who was responsible for the sequel not being made? It was because of Vivendi that didn’t want any sequels to be made. The budget for five sequels would have been the same as what it cost to make the first Simpsons Hit & Run game. It was the publisher who shut down the sequel and there haven’t been any reasons given why Vivendi decided not to continue with a sequel for The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

Maybe one day we’ll find out why Vivendi did not want to take chances on a sequel when everyone else was in support of a sequel. Unfortunately, a reason has not been offered by Vivendi and it looks like dreams of The Simpsons: Hit & Run sequel will only exist in the dreams of fans who loved the first game.

Silent Hill: Ascension Or Deception?

November 3, 2023

There’s a new Silent Hill game coming out but is not being received positively by fans. Before this, the last Silent Hill game which was a demo titled “Silent Hill P.T.” was canceled when Hideo Kojima was fired by Konami. The last full game released from the Silent Hill franchise was Silent Hill: Downpour and that game was not received well by Silent Hill fans. The Silent Hill fanbase wants games that are like the first two Silent Hill games.

Silent Hill: Ascension is a new game and it’s interactive horror. The people “playing” the game have 24 hours to make decisions and solve puzzles which will grant players influence points which make their decisions more important than someone who doesn’t have influence points.

The ability to make decisions be present during the live streams and participate in interactive segments do not have to be paid for but this game still offers a Battle Pass.

You can earn influence points in two different ways. If you don’t want to spend money then you will have to solve the puzzles. If you decide to pay $20, you can get something called a Founder’s Pack which will give you influence points but you will get extra rewards like cosmetic items and more.

When characters talked, their mouths wouldn’t move which there is no excuse for. Also, the livestream couldn’t handle all the traffic that came to the site to check out this first episode which is inexcusable for a game where you have to be there live to get the experience. That doesn’t mean you can play the game later.

Trends are coming in video games which I don’t like and Silent Hill: Ascension is a perfect combination of those trends. It’s bad enough with the battle pass and microtransactions but it gets worse when you have to be at a specific stream: live to have any say on where a game with branching paths will go. If that is going to be a requirement then the stream will have to be able to handle all the traffic.

Didn’t I Play This Game Already?

October 28, 2023

When you hear about new games coming out, it’s either a re-make like Resident Evil 4 for the current systems or the Metal Gear Collection which featured the two NES games and the first three Metal Gear Solid games. Even with this collection, Metal Gear Solid 3 is getting its re-make.

How many times are we going to buy the same game over and over again before we realize it is a waste of money? While collections may be worth it especially if you don’t have many of the games included in a collection. But how many times are we going to buy the re-make of a game when it just includes better graphics?

One popular game on GameCube is Metal Gear Sold: The Twin Snakes. To explain Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, it’s the game Metal Gear Solid with better graphics and gameplay than Metal Gear Solid 2. One difference is that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes offers first-person aiming when the original Metal Gear Solid did not.

But look at games like Resident Evil 4. Sure it came out on PlayStation 2 and was big on the Nintendo Wii but do we still need Resident Evil 4 being released on Xbox One and PlayStation 5? Some people might make the argument about Resident Evil 4 having VR capabilities but that doesn’t explain all the ports between the Wii and the PlayStation 5.

Developers love making re-makes because re-makes are cheaper to make than brand-new games and a lot of the work is done beforehand. While I’m not completely against remakes, I do have to question how many times we going to buy the same game if we still own the old copy.

Are We Heading Towards An All Digital Future?

October 20, 2023

This subject isn’t just exclusive to video games but it seems retailers are carrying less and less inventory of different media to sell in their stores. This happens to be the case for movies and video games.

The reason for this being a glimpse into the future is rumors that the newest Xbox will not have a disc drive. Many developers can sell their games digitally and it cuts down costs if they don’t have to order discs, design a case, and ship them into stores.

One problem with this is even if you purchase games digitally, you are still at the mercy of the developer because the game could end up not working when it is no longer supported like WWE 2K20.

Also, games like Friday the 13th which the full game is multiplayer online will no longer work when the servers are shut down. The servers for Friday the 13th will be shut down in 2024. So this presents two problems with modern games.

Physical stores will carry less media so you have to purchase games online and even if you purchase it digitally, the game may no longer work once the servers have been shut down.

People might say, just buy the game when it comes out but most people can’t afford to spend $60-$70 every time they buy a game. The problem is customers are heading into a future where games are only available digitally and if the game is pulled from a digital storefront, you can’t get that game anymore.

With that being into a glimpse of the future gaming-wise, I’m going to be spending more of my money on retro gaming. I purchased Mario Party on Nintendo 64 and I can play that as long as I want. I don’t have to worry about the functionality of the game because the sequel is on the way. I will be paying attention to newer games but shortly, that isn’t where most of my money will be going.

Evil Dead Seems To Have Died Prematurely

October 4, 2023

When a game launches, there is always a chance of that game not being received positively by critics or gamers. It doesn’t matter the marketing that went into a game if the game is not something gamers like when they get to experience the final product.

It was announced about two weeks ago that Evil Dead: The Game would not be receiving any more content and the planned port for the Nintendo Switch was canceled. All of this spells bad news for a game that was released a year and a half ago.

Keep in mind the last time we had an Evil Dead game was for the original Xbox which was Evil Dead: Regeneration but unlike those previous games, this game was a multiplayer game where one person controlled Ash or a friend of his while another player controls a demon trying to kill Ash and his friends. It’s similar to the Friday the 13th game that was released early in the life cycle of the Xbox One.

When live service games continue getting new content, that’s usually a good sign. However, content that was planned for the future has been canceled by the developer. It’s a shame that Evil Dead: The Game didn’t succeed as the next live-service game that would sustain a following.

Capcom President Claims Game Prices Are “Too Low”

September 28, 2023

If you have been paying attention to game prices recently then you may realize that some new games cost $70 to purchase on launch. Even with that recent increase, Harohiro Tsujimoto the president of Capcom thinks game prices are too low.

While most people are dealing with the recession the best they can, Harohiro believes that people will still spend money on entertainment like going to movie theaters during a recession so he thinks people will still pay money for their video games during a recession.

The other argument Harohiro made is that video games are much more complex and expensive to make than they were in the 1980s or 1990s but game prices as a whole haven’t raised that much in the last 40 years. Before some games went up to $70, most people had gotten used to $60 being the norm for new video games because that’s what most new video games cost for the last two decades.

It should be noted that while some publishers have already started including a $70 price tag on their games, Capcom is still charging $60 for the time being. Other publishers have chosen to make money through their games by having in-game shops that charge real money, microtransactions, season passes and other things players generally don’t like. I have a feeling these things would still be around even if prices went above the $70 price tag.

Would it be healthy for the video game market if new video games in general got two price increases in one year? I’m willing to bet most consumers would say no. I also think it would be too soon. But what would games cost the consumer if publishers did get rid of in-game purchases and microtransactions? Those annoyances people hate are probably why new games remained $60 for two decades. Whether the price goes up or not, I think the financial annoyances will continue in video games.

Is Phil Spencer Telling The Truth About The End Of The Xbox?

Phil Spencer from Microsoft said some concerning things when they were taking on the FTC in court trying to get their Activision Blizzard merger approved in America. It’s important to know when this was said because that adds another possibility to the reason Phil Spencer would say what he said.

Phil Spencer said if they don’t get the Game Pass subscribers, they are looking for and they don’t have the presence in PC gaming and cloud gaming that they are looking for by 2027, they may end up doing what Sega did and remove themselves from the console war.

Keep in mind, this was when Microsoft was taking on the FTC trying to get the Activision Blizzard deal approved which means Phil Spencer may have said this to make it look like Xbox is barely surviving and denying the Activision Blizzard merger would be the death nail to the Xbox line of consoles.

While I believe that is what Phil Spencer was attempting, it’s very bad when those words get out because how many people want to buy an Xbox Series console when they know Xbox could be making games only by 2027 if what Phil Spencer said happens to be true? Remember what happened when Xbox joined the console wars?

When the Dreamcast was the last gasp for Sega, it looked like the console war would be between Sony and Nintendo. That is when Microsoft joined the console war with their first Xbox and became that third competitor when Sega went to games only. If Microsoft is making games only by 2027, the console choices would be between Sony and Nintendo.

This isn’t the first time Phil Spencer has been negative about the XBox claiming Microsoft lost the console war during this generation. When Phil Spencer said this to the FTC, did he think his comments would not get hard publicly?

I think Phil Spencer was hoping making the Xbox brand look like it was dying would help the Activision Blizzard merger get approved worldwide. But these comments could hurt the potential customer base because I’m not going to spend money on a Series console if I think Microsoft only has a few years left in the console market.

I preferred Microsoft most since the Xbox 360 era and I hope that after 2027, the console market still includes consoles from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. I hope a few more viable competitors also join the market because customers win when they have several options.

Xbox Game Pass Core Replaces Xbox Live Gold

September 22, 2023

For at least a year, Xbox Live Gold was on life support not offering anything of value to people who were paying the monthly fee. Personally, I thought the service had lost it’s value when they stopped offering Xbox 360 and Xbox games.

Microsoft has replaced that service now with a stripped down version of Game Pass called Game Pass Core. Three dozen games are available at the launch of the service and there are a few favorites of mine that I noticed in this introductory line up.

If you love first person shooters, there is no excuse to not try Doom: Eternal. As someone who loves Doom, I love the fact that Doom: Eternal is available to people who can’t afford the higher tier of Game Pass.

Gears 5: Game Of The Year Edition is also on Game Pass Core. While I had technical difficulties trying to play the campaign, the multiplayer worked fine with no problems when I played it. Even after you beat the campaign in any Gears Of War game, the multiplayer will continue to bring back any Gears Of War fan.

Overcooked! 2 is just as fun as the original. I only had one chance to play this game before I let Game Pass expire. While I got stuck in the sixth world of the first Overcooked!, I was having fun in Overcooked! 2 and think anybody who haven’t tried either game should give Overcooked! 2 a chance.

If you want a game that simulates existing in a zombie apocalyptic world, State Of Decay 2 is available to play. While you try to build your base, you will have to go out into the world looking for supplies and that’s when most of the encounters happen.

Finally, another favorite of mine is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. I teamed up with a friend of mine and other strangers on Xbox Live to tackle the arcade mode. While we never tried the story mode, I know more content has been added since the time we played it so if you haven’t played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge recently and you love the beat ’em up games of the 90s then you should definitely play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

Other then the three dozen games, this service also lets you play games online and continue to enjoy the games that are available during free play weekends. I think the introductory line up is a great start and while it will only be updated no more then three times a year, it’s a great alternative for people who can’t afford Game Pass Ultimate.

Major Changes To The Store

September 14, 2023

While there hasn’t been a lot of new content to the website in the last couple of weeks, I have been extremely busy updating the store part of the website. Originally when you visited the store, you would find a list of the merchandise available once you select a category.

The update to the store is that the lists are there but in a different format. When you scroll down a category page in the store, you will see pictures representing whether the item comes loose or includes the box or case. For games that are available in multiple variations (complete, brand new, etc.) that will be specified in the title of the game.

You will also see the price along with the title at the bottom of the item. These prices are the prices before shipping. If you are interested in purchasing what you see, just click on the title under the photo. That link will take you to the product page in one of my online marketplaces.

The only category this does not apply to are the bundles or lots. The bundles or lots will keep being added to but they are going to be an E-Bay exclusive when I resume doing auctions for the bundles or lots. That is expected to happen in the near future.

Will Xbox’s Strike System Do More Harm Then Good?

August 29, 2023

This may sound like a great concept idea but could backfire horribly in execution. XBox will be introducing a strike system to players which will restrict them from participating in parties, party chat, and playing games online among other things for up to a full year if you get the maximum amount of strikes which is 8.

While eight strikes may sound like a lot, not every offense is only worth one strike. If you swear or cheat in online multiplayer games then you will get a single strike. If you make comments of an unwanted sexual nature, or to pester someone, you receive two strikes. You will get three strikes if it is determined that you used hate speech on Xbox Live.

There is a chance this system will not be a dumpster fire because every allegation will be reviewed by a human before strikes are issued. Suspensions will start being issued when a player has accumulated two strikes. Strikes will also last on the account of a player for six months before they are forgiven.

This is a big problem for anyone who likes to trash-talk opponents while playing a multiplayer game. Call Of Duty lobbies on the Xbox 360 used to be a very toxic place. While I’m not saying things should be able to go to an extreme like that, will simple trash-talking earn someone a strike?

Also online, some people consider anything they don’t want to hear as hate speech. Hopefully, innocent online players won’t get strikes temporarily suspending them from Xbox Live services. If you don’t want to get strikes, I guess everybody will have to be on their best behavior on Xbox Live.

Are Glitches In Updates For The Sims 4 Intentional?

August 26, 2023

Whenever news comes out about The Sims 4 getting a new update, it is expected that the update will have glitches with fans exposing the ridiculous results of the update and developers being silent. Many updates have been released for The Sims 4 with bad results every time and with it being predictable, one has to wonder if these glitches are happening on purpose.

When The Sims 4 revealed that it was adding horses, I said this was going to be a dumpster fire like other updates and upon the launch of the update, it was. People made videos but are the developers using these videos as a way of getting free promotion? The developers know when an update in The Sims 4 launches and it’s glitchy, people are going to record their experience and upload it to YouTube Twitter, or some other online platform.

While that just might be a coincidence keep in mind that Maxis and EA do not go after these videos claiming copyright issues so why would any company want footage of their games uploaded just to be presented in a bad light? That is unless the developers and publishers are just appreciating the free promotion which could explain why updates that have glitches do not get fixed until they’re not a main discussion online anymore.

I’m not saying this is the case. It just seems to be a pattern of: updates getting released, people uploading videos showing glitches and then updates might be fixed once people stop talking about it. Maxis is not an indie developer so is there no one testing the quality of these updates before they are released? Also, how could an experienced developer like Maxis not release one update that had no problems for how long?

This was something I noticed after stories of the last update and I realized that every update seems to follow this pattern. It feels like it happened too many times to be one big coincidence. What do you think about the glitchy updates in The Sims 4? Are they intentional for the free promotion? Or is this just one big coincidence?

Was Burn Notice a MacGyver Remake?

March 29, 2023

One big problem with Hollywood today is nobody wants to take chances. That’s why we keep getting sequels and remakes. The problem with remakes is that the new show tarnishes the original. The remake just hopes to get accepted for having the same name as a program that people liked in the past. That’s why remakes rarely seem to work. When I heard they were remaking MacGyver, The first thought that came to my mind was: “Why remake Macgyver? They already had a remake called Burn Notice and it was good.”

Technically a remake isn’t a remake if it doesn’t share the same name. But when you compared the original Macgyver and Burn Notice, it wasn’t hard to see the similarities. To get the differences out of the way, they both had different casts and took place in different locations and there were 15 years between the beginning of Burn Notice and the end of Macgyver. But let’s look at the similarities and we can see if Burn Notice was a remake of Macgyver but didn’t follow the steps of a typical remake.

The protagonist of Macgyver was Angus Macgyver portrayed by Richard Dean Anderson. In the first few seasons, he worked for the Phoenix Foundation after having worked for the United States government. For the last four seasons of Macgyver, Macgyver was helping anyone he ran into that needs help to stop injustices from happening.

The protagonist of Burn Notice was Michael Westen portrayed by Jeffrey Donovan. Michael used to work as a spy until he was blacklisted. When a spy is blacklisted, it’s referred to as a Burn Notice. For the first few seasons, Michael relied on anyone who was still loyal to him and did whatever he could for innocent people who were in trouble while he tried to find out who burned him and why. Around halfway through the series, Michael was welcomed back as a spy and started working for the United States government after nearly taking down the agency that got Michael blacklisted, to begin with. After Michael was welcomed as a spy, he worked for the government except for when he was taking our corrupt heads of command.

One difference was whom Macgyver and Michael worked with. Macgyver handled a lot of situations by himself Sometimes he had his friends Peter Thornton and Jack Dalton to support him but Mac handled a lot of things on his own. After he stopped working for the Phoenix Foundation and started helping innocent people, he was on his own as far as reoccurring allies were concerned.

Michael always had a team to help him. He had an on-again-off-again girlfriend, Fiona, and his friend Sam. If Michael’s mother met someone who was in trouble, she would introduce that person to Michael. Halfway through the series, the trio led by Michael turned into a quartet when Jesse was burned for something Michael did and Michael vowed to help Jesse find out who burned him. Michael also was going to do everything possible to get Jesse’s job back. After Jesse found out the truth, he forgave Michael and continued to assist him for the rest of the series.

One thing that made Michael and Macgyver very dangerous was their minds. Macgyver knew a lot about chemistry and he always had his swiss army pocketknife but if Macgyver needed anything else, he could whip it up from stuff he found wherever he happened to be. Mac didn’t learn this stuff when he became an adult. He knew how to craft things together he needed even as a teenager when he converted his bike into a cart to bring a friend to the hospital after one got shot when they played with a gun.

Michael was just as smart. When he didn’t have a lead on who burned him, he would help out people who were being wronged by more powerful opponents. This would normally be people who were scammed out of large amounts of money, had their lives threatened, or were being forced out of the area but had nowhere else to go. Michael was able to help people because of his abilities which helped him when he worked as a spy.

Another similarity between MacGyver and Michael was the narrations during their respective shows. Sometimes when MacGyver was trying to defuse a bomb or was getting ready for an attack by getting prepared, Richard Dean Anderson would explain what he was doing. When MacGyver was helping a small village being forced to work on a farm so they’re not killed, MacGyver was helping the handful of villagers plant traps against the opposition and Richard Dean Anderson was narrating the purpose behind each trap.

Jeffrey Donovan in Burn Notice narrated more than attack plans. Jeffrey would narrate situations he found himself in. One example was when he told Management of the firm that burned him, he wanted them out of his life and then jumped off the helicopter. Jeffrey narrates that when you are a spy for the government, you have other agencies looking for you. When you are working for yourself, you have to do your best to not bring attention to yourself and keep yourself alive.

Another similarity between MacGyver and Michael Westen was the difficulties they had with their family. Except for MacGyver’s grandfather, most of MacGyver’s family had already passed before the series started. MacGyver had a connection with his grandfather and MacGyver ended up having a son he never knew until his son had grown up.

Michael Westen had the same kind of connection with his mother. When Michael’s mother helped out, she did her best to get information even doing undercover roles. When Michael’s brother died while helping out, Michael’s mother adopted Michael’s nephew. When Michael’s mother died in the series finale, the final scene showed Michael, Fiona, and Michael’s nephew Charlie hiding out in some snowing country with Michael wondering what he was going to tell Charlie when Charlie started asking questions about Michael’s past.

When you think about all these similarities, it’s easy to say that Burn Notice was a remake of MacGyver although it didn’t share the same name. The main characters had similar abilities and similar struggles when it came to their family. They also did the same kind of jobs whether they were working for a government organization or working for themselves. Burn Notice may be a remake of the original MacGyver but it was a good remake.

The Downfall Of E3

March 27, 2023

Since the mid-1990s, there was one gaming event that stood out above the rest. If you wanted to know what was planned within the next 12 months for a developer or console, the event you had to pay attention to was E3. This is where the biggest gaming announcements of the year were made.

Around 2013 was when developers like Nintendo and Electronic Arts decided to stop using E3 as a showcase to announce projects that were being worked on. While many other developers were still using E3 as a showcase, the worldwide pandemic in 2020 would accelerate the downfall of E3.

Due to lockdowns all over the United States in 2020, there was no E3 showcase. The next year, there was an E3 event but no one was allowed to show up and the whole show was virtual. When 2022 came around, the decision was made to cancel E3 entirely.

With E3 set to return to normal in 2023, the news came out that Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony were all skipping E3. People in charge of organizing E3 said there was no reason to worry because many developers were still going to show up and people thought this might be the year E3 returns to normal.

However, recently Ubisoft has decided to skip E3 this year. There is a reason why developers don’t see E3 anymore as an event they must attend to showcase their future projects. Many developers including Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo hold their virtual events when they have projects they want to showcase to the public.

When developers can hold their virtual events anytime they want, it took away the importance that E3 used to have. Holding these virtual events was never tried until the pandemic made virtual events the only way to get news of projects out to video game fans.

At the time of this writing, E3 2023 is still two and a half months away which means more developers may decide to not participate in E3. How much longer does E3 have before too many developers decide E3 is unnecessary?
