If you’re a fan of the Gears Of War franchise, then you might be happy to hear that Gears Of War: Reloaded is coming out this summer, which is a remastered version of the first Gears Of War game. This remastered Gears Of War game will also be coming out on PlayStation 5.
There are a bunch of technical upgrades, and this will also allow cross-play. If you purchased Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition, then this will be an upgrade to give a reason for people to purchase this, even if they purchased Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition.
This has two implications. One of those implications is that Microsoft is becoming like Sega because what are you going to miss out on (from Microsoft) if you get a PlayStation 5? Gears 5 is also coming out on PlayStation 5. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is rumored to come out on PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2.
I always looked at Gears Of War as Microsoft’s answer to Killzone, and I felt Killzone didn’t have as much appeal as Gears Of War. So while this release coming out on PlayStation 5 is great news for Gears fans, it’s a troubling sign for people who chose Xbox as their console of choice. Microsoft still wants you to buy the Xbox, but what is the point now? At least the Sega Dreamcast died before Sonic appeared on a Nintendo console in Sonic Advance on the Game Boy Advance.
That’s not the case with the people in Gears Of War and Master Chief from Halo. Should Microsoft stick to game development at this point? If you don’t think so, are you going to pick up one of the XBox’s coming out in the next year ot two? Let me know what you think and how you feel.
