When Palworld was first developed by Pocketpair, everybody compared the game by calling it Pokémon with guns. Because of the comparisons to Pokémon, people wondered if Palworld would appear on the Nintendo Switch.
Communications director John Buckley said that it is not likely because of the limitations of the Nintendo Switch. That doesn’t mean Pocketpair doesn’t want Palworld to appear, but they are concerned that the limitations of the Nintendo Switch, while referring to Palworld as a beefy game.
John Buckley was asked if it was possible for Palworld to appear on the Nintendo Switch 2. While the developers are interested, they haven’t seen the Switch 2’s specs to see if it would be possible for Palworld to work on it.
If the Nintendo Switch 2 could handle Palworld, then it is something that Pocketpair would be considering. Pocketpair was able to get Palworld to run on the Steam Deck, but the more handheld consoles that Palworld can appear on, the better.
Some people believe the reason Palworld didn’t appear on the Nintendo Switch is because Pocketpair was sued by Nintendo over gimmick infringement, claiming the ball-throwing mechanics were stolen from Pokémon. However, that is not the case because Ovendungeon, also developed by Pocketpair did made its way to the Nintendo Switch. The lawsuit from Nintendo caught Pocketpair by surprise since they had done legal checks to prevent something like the lawsuit from happening.
One has to wonder if Nintendo sued Pocketpair over the mechanics in Palworld, would Nintendo allow Palworld to appear on the Nintendo Switch? Gamers seem to doubt that Palworld will appear on the Nintendo Switch 2, although Ovendungeon’s appearance on the original Nintendo Switch does offer some hope.
Would you like to see Palworld appear on the Nintendo Switch 2 if Switch 2 is strong enough to run it? Do you think Nintendo will allow Palworld to appear on their console like Overdungeon did? Leave your comments below.
